Teaching Philosophy

Using evidence-based vocal pedagogy, I strive to develop technically proficient artists who bring individuality and authenticity to their work to tell enthralling stories through song.

Through over a decade of professional Broadway experience, I’ve learned first hand that solid vocal technique is needed to support layered performances at our industry’s highest levels. In training vocal production, I take a comprehensive approach, carefully balancing encouragement with technical instruction in a warm and welcoming environment to foster fearless and confident artists that creatively explore and authentically connect with material.

Furthermore, as art is not “one-size fits all”, it is imperative (and honestly quite exciting) to inspire artists to embrace all facets of themselves and the entirety of their instruments. I celebrate the evolution of musical theatre and recognize the importance of my role in introducing and expanding the ways singers see themselves, busting open their proverbial boxes while cultivating their unique artistry.

As educators, we have a tremendous opportunity to support and champion the next generation’s stories, identities, and voices so that they may be courageous in their performances of humanity.

As an artist, I recognize that it takes time, vulnerability, and dedication. Singers train as vocal athletes but have to stay adaptable to storytelling. We train muscles inside the body, harnessing vibrations while making minor adjustments that lead to major results.

As a lifelong learner, I have a passion to help others work smarter, not harder. Sharpened tools in your vocal toolbox leave room for the additional storytelling layers for a fully realized outcome. And there is nothing better than being able to jump into a character’s journey not worrying about breath support, even tone, etc. A solid technique supplements, and doesn’t distract.

I can’t wait to hear your beautiful sounds, beautiful songs, and transform them into beautiful adventures.

“Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And we will applaud you every step of the way”- Kamala Harris.
